About the Role
Westbury is seeking a senior leader to join us as Head of Estimating. This role will lead the strategic direction, governance, and performance of the estimating function across the business.
This is a key leadership opportunity to shape the future of estimating at Westbury and influence outcomes at both operational and strategic levels. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for building a best-in-class estimating capability that strengthens commercial outcomes, supports margin discipline, improves operational efficiency, and enables scalable growth.
You will provide leadership across our Pre-Construction, New Sales and Estimating divisions, ensuring consistent methodology, accurate data, and aligned systems and processes across the business. A central focus of the role is to establish a high-performing estimating operating model that embeds continuous improvement and lifts the maturity of the function.
You will also drive collaboration across internal teams and external partners, ensuring the estimating function is tightly integrated with broader business objectives and project delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Define and execute Westbury’s estimating strategy aligned to our vision, operational and growth objectives
Develop and implement a comprehensive reporting framework for estimating performance, productivity, accuracy and margin outcomes
Establish a long-term vision for the estimating function, transitioning from transactional estimating to a strategic commercial capability
Embed an operating system for estimating, including structure, capability, capacity, systems and governance
Lead and integrate sales estimating and pre-construction to operate as a cohesive, high-performing function
Build leadership capability and oversee workload planning through coaching, mentoring and performance management
Develop and implement a best-practice estimating framework across sales operations and project delivery
Establish and maintain robust margin governance frameworks across the estimating department
Provide oversight of estimating assumptions, contingencies, risk allowances and commercial levers
Build strong relationships with external consultants and subcontractors to enhance capability and performance
Qualifications
Tertiary
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commerce or a related discipline
Professional Experience
5–8+ years’ experience in a senior estimating, cost planning or commercial leadership role
Skills and Experience
Proven experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership of estimating or commercial functions
Experience designing and implementing operating models and process frameworks
Strong commercial acumen with a track record in margin management and cost governance
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and driving organisational change
Ability to analyse and resolve complex, multi-party commercial challenges
Advanced stakeholder management and executive communication skills
Attributes

Strong analytical and strategic thinking with the ability to translate data into commercial insights for the wider business
